Rationale and Objectives
By experiencing first hand the need for sustainable development while in the Galapagos Islands, students are able to comprehend its different aspects: environmental sustainability, Economic Sustainability and Social-Political Sustainability.
The purpose of this program is to allow researchers, students, professors, educators, and community developers to participate in courses and fieldwork related to understanding, and interacting with our socio-economic environment.
Location:
The Galapagos Islands are located right at the equatorial line, in the Pacific, 1000 miles of the coast of Ecuador; most well known for Charles Darwin’s “Voyage of the Beagle” which contributed to his Theory of Evolution. This location offers the perfect environment to understand how to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability to meet the needs of the future.
Course:
Sustainable Development applied to business administration. This course examines concepts and management of natural resources, staff, education, economy, social and cultural responsibility.
45 Class Hours – 3 University Credits
Course Schedule:
FIELD STUDIES
Fields studies allow students to place theories learned in the classroom into practice. These projects usually last for more than half of the program, concluding with presentations.
Regardless of the theme, this experience provides students with analytical and problem solving skills, teamwork dynamics and a clear understanding of the environment.
